Jericho Rises - New Promo from CBS

Monday, June 18th, 2007

Have you ever watched an advert and just get chills down your spine? This time, though, it wasn’t anything spectacular within the content of the advert, but it’s just the fact that the advert is there at all. I love the not-really-so-subtle nod to the Nuts campaign, saying without really saying it.

Jericho Reruns Start July 6th

Thursday, June 14th, 2007
cast_truck.jpg

Mark it on your calenders, set your Outlook Calender for a reminder, because your Friday nights at 9 p.m. have just become busy!

Zap2it.com is reporting that CBS has released that starting July 6, Fridays at 9 p.m. ET will be devoted to showing the repeats of Jericho to help drum up support for the resurrection of the show, with some shows starting at special times and dates.

On Friday, July 6 at 9 p.m. ET, CBS will reair the original “Jericho” pilot, in which the residents of a small Kansas town begin to deal with the effects of a nuclear attack. The following week, at 8 p.m., the network will air a clipshow recapping the season’s first 11 episodes, followed by episode 12, “The Day Before,” which began the show’s spring season.

Through the rest of the summer, CBS will use the Friday 9 p.m. time slot to show episodes 13-22.

Seven New Jericho Episodes to Air in ‘08

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

And CBS Says…. SEVEN MORE EPISODES!

From Nina Tassler on the Jericho Message Boards:

June 6, 2007

To the Fans of Jericho:

Wow!

Over the past few weeks you have put forth an impressive and probably unprecedented display of passion in support of a prime time television series. You got our attention; your emails and collective voice have been heard.

As a result, CBS has ordered seven episodes of “Jericho for mid-season next year. In success, there is the potential for more. But, for there to be more “Jericho, we will need more viewers.

At the end of the letter, just to show that even at CBS they’ve got a sense of humor, Ms. Tassler asks the fans to “please stop sending nuts”.

Watch with Kristen over at EOnline.com pretty much sums up my reaction to this news:

I couldn’t be more thrilled, and I do believe this is thawing out my cold, cynical reporter’s heart. I never thought I’d see the day!

Read the whole letter from CBS here.

Read Watch with Kristen’s article summing it up here.

Rumors of Jericho Saved!

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007
field.jpg

Wow, y’all… I spend most of the day in meetings, and I come back to an overflowing mailbox telling me that rumors on TVGuide.com and EOnline.com are saying that CBS may have just gotten the message from all those nuts being shipped to their offices by having a proposed eight episodes show Mid-season next year.

From Watch with Kristen:

How’s this for the biggest stunner you’ve heard all day: Sources close to CBS tell me it is extremely likely the Armageddonish drama Jericho–which did not make the CBS ‘07-’08 schedule a few weeks ago, meaning it was effectilvely canceled—has been revived from the dead and will return for eight episodes for midseason.

Boo-yah!

From the Ausiello Report:

My spies caution that this is in no way official, but it certainly sounds like it could be by day’s end. It’s now just a matter of signing the actors to new deals and, according to one insider, finding a new soundstage to house the show’s sets.

To say this would be a huge victory for crazy TV fans everywhere would be the understatement of the frakkin’ millennium.

Boo-yah, indeed!

Cast and Crew Respond on Message Board

Monday, May 28th, 2007
paley_fest.jpg

I’ve actually been avoiding the Message Board over on the Official Site lately, more because I just don’t have the kind of time it would take to really take to read through all of the comments. But, I did notice that there’s a section of the board that has many comments left from the cast and crew of Jericho, talking about the cancellation and I think left in a way to placate the rabid fans over on the board. Some of the comments have been left by Jon Steinberg, Skeet Ulrich, Lennie James, Alicia Coppola, Shoshannah Stern, Brad Beyer, Candace Bailey and Michael Gaston, and I do hope to see even more of the cast and crew to comment on the board.

See the listing of comments here.

On an administrative note, I’ll be posting only once or twice a week here from now on, until there is no more news to be had on the show or I just start seeing a drastic reduction in visitors. I don’t want to give up on Jericho, but there’s only so many times I can tell y’all where to send the nuts, ya know?

Jericho - Time to Say Goodbye

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007
jericho_logo.jpg

There aren’t any words, really. I think that CBS is making a horrible mistake in canceling the show, which is truly completely separate from me writing on this blog. I wouldn’t have taken this writing position had I not already had an interest in the show.

While CBS hasn’t put out any official word yet, and wasn’t supposed to anyway until tomorrow, there are too many different news sources to take lightly.

Sign the Save Jericho position. Silly, really, but it made me feel better to put my name on this.

Music on Jericho

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007
music_notes.jpg

I received a question a while back that I have been meaning to post about, and that was about all of the different songs that you hear on the show.

There are two places that I know of to be able to see listings of the songs used in the show.

While both survive off of user-submitted information, I really like heardontv.com’s interface, and the ability to get help identifying a song that you’ve heard, along with the links to where to purchase the song that you’ve heard.

Do you know of any other places that are on the great and powerful interwebs to find out the music used in the shows?

And, don’t forget to send in your peanuts.

Rumors of Jericho’s Second Season Renewal

Monday, May 14th, 2007
jericho_roof.jpg

I received an email from the contact form on this site from someone named Bob, who sent me a link to this site, along with someone leaving comments in previous posts. If you scroll through the listing of times for season openers on CBS, there’s a little bit at the bottom to grab your attention.

It is also rumored Jericho has been renewed for 13 episodes and will run midseason or on Fridays and that the sitcom 1321 Clover has been given staffing orders (does not mean it is picked up, means it is moving to the next level before an official go).

As the good l’il blogger that I am, I’ve been googling my brains out trying to find anything to support this rumor on the Northern Kentucky University’s site, run by Jimmie Manning, who teaches Communication Studies there.

Can anybody help me out here? I’d love to get some kind of corroboration from somewhere.

Meanwhile, don’t forget to send in your peanuts.

Season Finale Review - Shaun OMac Radio

Friday, May 11th, 2007

shaunmacradio.jpg

As usual, I had a blast on Shaun OMac Radio last night, chatting about the season finale, and the whole first season in general. Shaun had some great clips from the show, along with some absolutely wonderful callers for the show. Clark, we’ll have to have a chat about the Biggest Heather Fan one of these days!

What did y’all think of the season finale, or of the season in general? When (not if, as Shaun reminded me) it gets renewed, will you come back to it? Even outside of writing for this blog, I would be coming back again and again, as long as it’s on the air, in the news, in fan fiction, anything and everything. Do you feel the same?

If so, write to CBS, call up CBS, email them, blog about them renewing Jericho, send them peanuts, whatever it takes to keep this show on the air, ok? Also, head on over to BlogTalkRadio and let them know that they should have a regular Jericho chat, which I enjoy almost as much as watching the show itself.

Opening Morse Code - TO THE FLAG

From CBS.com:
Johnston leads Jericho into battle with New Bern. Although Jericho has far fewer men and resources than New Bern, they have a few things that help them keep their heads above water. Hawkins and Jake reveal to Johnston that Hawkins has the ability to track New Bern’s position via satellite. And with the help of the tank that they took from the fake marines, Jericho forces New Bern to retreat. But the battle is also costly, putting Johnston Green’s life in jeopardy. At the same time, Hawkins realizes that his use of the tracking device is allowing someone to follow his trail.

Carol Barbee, Jon Steinberg and Saving Jericho

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

To be honest, I felt like a complete fish out of water when I realized that I was talking with Carol Barbee, executive producer of the show, but also one of the creators and writers, Jon Steinberg. There were some great questions for them, and I’d like to say that I didn’t make a complete fool of myself. A popular commenter’s question here (Hi Grace!) was read by Shaun, even. While they were tight-lipped on spoilers for the Season Finale (You are watching it tonight, aren’t you?), they did give a really wonderful feel for how the show’s focus is going and where it will lead. I don’t know if it’s a good thing or a bad thing that Jon Steinberg went, “Oh, Amber from Watching Jericho, right?” when I first rang in to the show, though.

As Shaun said, and Carol and Jon tried to impress on all the listeners, if you want to make sure that CBS hears our voice to save Jericho, get on the Official Site, write letters, stand on the rooftop and scream it out. They’re in a pow-wow right now up in New York to decide the show’s fate, along with others, and we need to keep pushing them.

You can hear the whole podcast here, and if you like it, go and tell BlogTalkRadio that they should have a weekly Jericho chat, along with sending some feedback Shaun’s way over on his blog. I’d love to have that happen, and maybe I could get rid of my Southern accent if I was on the air more often. :)

Season Finale - Who’s Going to Die?

Monday, May 7th, 2007

gerald_mcraney.jpgHave you watched the Previews for this week’s Season Finale of Jericho? I caught it at the end of last week’s episode, and I threw some of my thoughts into the bottom of my recap, which has garnered a repeated comment:

CBS, Don’t kill off Johnston Green!

But that’s exactly where I think we’re heading to when it comes to Wednesday’s episode. We know that someone is going to die, because of spoilers and previews, but of course, they aren’t telling us who. Because of everything that has been thrown around, official and unofficial, it looks as though Gerald McRaney will be leaving Jericho, though a decent search can’t tell me what’s going on.

Don’t know what I’m talking about, check out the links at the bottom of the post. Then, come back and let me know what you think, and who it is that you think is going to be the one killed off.

Watch the Sneak Peek here. *Spoilers in this clip*

Jericho’s Ratings Stay Steady

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007
field.jpg

SyFy Portal is reporting that Jericho dipped a little in ratings last week, though it has stayed relatively steady. What caused the dip in ratings? That old nemesis, American Idol, and their charity show.

“Jericho” on CBS also stayed steady, posting a 5.0/9, slightly down from the 5.2/8 it earled last week. Some of that drop was because of its competition, however, as Fox was broadcasting an “American Idol” telethon that raised more than $30 million, instead of its usual “Bones.” That telethon earned a 13.9/23 for Fox.

I’m hoping that whenever word does come down that CBS has renewed Jericho for its second season, they move it far, far away from American Idol. All of the shows’ rating woes seem to stem from something to do with it.

Read the whole thing here.
