Watching Jericho on ShaunOMac Radio Tonight

Thursday, June 7th, 2007

shaunmacradio.jpg If anyone is up tonight at 11pm ET, or if you’re in more Western climes, tune into ShaunOMacRadio tonight and listen to me chat with Shaun and others about all the news that’s fit to write on a blog in regards to Jericho, the saving of the show due to fans like you that are reading this, and everything else that we can fit into his program. While it’s a tad late for me, I know that I’m excited enough to stay energized when it comes to talking about this wonderful show.

Now if I can just be patient enough to wait until they release the dates for when those lovely seven episodes are going to air.

Slashdot - “Jericho” Fans Send Over Nine Tons of Nuts to CBS.

While the link lends itself to most Slashdot articles by not showing anything in just one light, I find it amusing that this “little” show is making such a big splash.

Y’all keep sending in your nuts, ok?

Save Jericho Sites

Jericho Statis

Wow. It amazes me how the great and powerful interwebs can band together when there’s something out there that they care about. I’ve had the emails pouring in, my comments have tripled in the past week, and every single thing that I’m receiving are all of the different ways that people out there are doing whatever they can to get the word out and get the show noticed out there.

Here are some of the sites that I’ve been sent links to that I think you should pay attention to:

Do you know of any other sites out there that should be on the list above? Leave a link in the comments.

Save Jericho on Blogspot

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

Only on the interwebs…

Someone’s started up a blog called “Save Jericho” on blogger, and I can’t but wish them well. Their first post states:

“Jericho” started out strong last fall for CBS. However, like “Lost” on ABC and “Heroes” on NBC, many viewers abandoned the show after it went on a long midseason hiatus.

“We lost a lot of steam,” said Kelly Kahl, CBS’ chief scheduling executive. “I know we had loyal viewers … but the show sort of lost its engine and wasn’t performing.”

If CBS is not willing to bring back the show then at least let us know what would happen.

Go on over there and say hello. I hope that they’ll make a difference, and I’ll be here to help them out.

Music on Jericho

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007
music_notes.jpg

I received a question a while back that I have been meaning to post about, and that was about all of the different songs that you hear on the show.

There are two places that I know of to be able to see listings of the songs used in the show.

While both survive off of user-submitted information, I really like heardontv.com’s interface, and the ability to get help identifying a song that you’ve heard, along with the links to where to purchase the song that you’ve heard.

Do you know of any other places that are on the great and powerful interwebs to find out the music used in the shows?

And, don’t forget to send in your peanuts.

Carol Barbee, Jon Steinberg and Saving Jericho

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

To be honest, I felt like a complete fish out of water when I realized that I was talking with Carol Barbee, executive producer of the show, but also one of the creators and writers, Jon Steinberg. There were some great questions for them, and I’d like to say that I didn’t make a complete fool of myself. A popular commenter’s question here (Hi Grace!) was read by Shaun, even. While they were tight-lipped on spoilers for the Season Finale (You are watching it tonight, aren’t you?), they did give a really wonderful feel for how the show’s focus is going and where it will lead. I don’t know if it’s a good thing or a bad thing that Jon Steinberg went, “Oh, Amber from Watching Jericho, right?” when I first rang in to the show, though.

As Shaun said, and Carol and Jon tried to impress on all the listeners, if you want to make sure that CBS hears our voice to save Jericho, get on the Official Site, write letters, stand on the rooftop and scream it out. They’re in a pow-wow right now up in New York to decide the show’s fate, along with others, and we need to keep pushing them.

You can hear the whole podcast here, and if you like it, go and tell BlogTalkRadio that they should have a weekly Jericho chat, along with sending some feedback Shaun’s way over on his blog. I’d love to have that happen, and maybe I could get rid of my Southern accent if I was on the air more often. :)

Germany gets Jericho as Video-On-Demand

Thursday, April 26th, 2007
germany.jpg

TelevisionPoint.com is reporting that CBS has sold V-O-D (Video on Demand) rights to German company ProSiebenSat.1-Group to show Jericho and other CBS shows on maxdome.de.

The video-on-demand portal ‘maxdome’ is a strategic cooperation between ProSiebenSat.1 Group and United Internet AG. It offers a large variety of blockbusters, comedy shows, series, sport an cartoons and can be purchased by subscriptions of different packages as well as by 24h-pay-per-view. Over 4000 Titles can be viewed on www.maxdome.de just like a DVD any number of times over the course of the purchased license period. Access is via a broadband internet connection either on a personal computer or, by using a set-top-box, on TV set. ‘maxdome’ is an open platform which can be used through all broadband services and is not limited to a specific mode of access.

While I’ve gone onto the maxdome.de website, I have no clue how to do anything other than order a beer in German, so can any of my readers help me out here?

And yes, I owe y’all a recap of last night’s episode, and if I can stay conscious for more than a few minutes at a time from the cold meds I’m currently on, I promise I’ll get it to you.

CBS Signs with Joost

Monday, April 16th, 2007

joost.jpg

CBS Networks has announced that they are the first network to sign with the new service, Joost, which is a On-Demand Broadband TV service which will launch soon, though you can use the Beta now.

Broadband TV start-up Joost has scored a major coup, netting a deal with CBS to add the entire CSI franchise to its service, plus a string of the US network’s other hits including NCIS, Numb3rs and Showtime Boxing.

The partnership marks another major vote of confidence in Joost, set up by Skype founders Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis, coming soon after the company signed up Viacom in February.

While I’ve not used their beta version yet, it will be nice to have another outlet to be able to catch up with Jericho on the internet.

CBS News Replacing YouTube Videos

Monday, March 12th, 2007
cbs_logo.jpg

While not exactly dealing with Jericho, CBS News announced that they’re pulling all of the illegal copies on YouTube for their shows, but instead of just leaving people hanging, they’ll be adding in their own versions on YouTube at their channel.

“We’ve got a team of lawyers that goes through pirated CBS News videos on YouTube and calls up YouTube every day and says ‘you’ve got to take down these clips’. Every pirated 60 Minutes clip that goes up on YouTube, we’re putting up the authentic, authorized version of that clip. We’re sensitive. If we’re going to take down that illegal video, we are certainly going to give you the experience of that piece [by supplying a new clip] and often the quality is considerably better.

The fact that they’re putting up their own versions on YouTube really speaks for the fact that they’re really aware of the way the web is changing the way to promote things.

S2DRadio Interview

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

s2dradio.jpgI had a blast talking to the guys from S2DRadio.com last night about Jericho, though I was a little paranoid following up the Carol Barbee interview last week. But they really made me feel welcome, and of course having Jericho as a topic of discussion was an easy way to keep me chatting the half-hour away.

We ranged in topics from the common themes occurring in both Jericho and Battlestar Gallactica to who we think will be cast as the “Old Man” that Sara is bringing Hawkins to see, along with the Carol Barbee interview and who my favorite character is at the moment (if you couldn’t tell from some of my recent posts, it’s Heather). They’ve asked me back, which I think is one of the best compliments that I’ve received since starting this.

Listen to the whole interview here. (March 6th broadcast)

More and More Viewers

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007
field.jpg

I love getting my Google Alerts for blogs that are writing about Jericho, because I’m seeing more and more people who are getting hooked on the show. Some of the more interesting reviews and talks about the show are below.

There are also some reviews of the show from the more traditional press, such as TV Guide Community and Time Magazine, though I don’t really know if I’d consider Jericho a guilty pleasure as James Poniewozik of Time Magazine does.

Do you think of the show as a guilty pleasure?

Carol Barbee Interview - Subject 2 Discussion

Monday, March 5th, 2007
carol_barbee.jpg

Carol Barbee, Executive Producer of Jericho, was interviewed by S2DRadio.com on Tuesday, February 27, where they discussed everything under the sun in regards to Jericho.

One of the first things that they discuss is coming back from the must-discussed hiatus and how they are still trying to figure out exactly how strong they came back, because of the numbers-skewing American Idol being against the show since they’ve come back from hiatus. While they were second in ratings with the first full episode, they are looking at changing their schedule for next year to go to a full 22 episodes starting in January. While nothing official has been said about Jericho getting a second season from CBS, this comment for the changes in scheduling for next year truly makes me happy.

Also discussed is the impact of the Jericho web presence provided by CBS, from the web-episodes of Countdown to the Wiki. The push from their web presence is something that I think has carried the show through the hiatus, and I’m sure it will also help to pull them through the summer break.

There are so many others that they discuss, including the character of Gray Anderson and new-to-us sections of Jericho that will be coming around in upcoming episodes.

On a somewhat of an aside, I will be interviewed by Shaun over at Subject 2 Discussion on Tuesday, March 6 to discuss the show and television. Please feel free to head on over there at 6pm Pacific Time (the show has been moved from 7pm PT), which for us east-coasters means 9pm on Tuesday.

Listen to the whole interview here, on February 27.

Inside Jericho - Live Talk Show

Monday, February 19th, 2007
9910369451press1219200684621am.jpg

As I received in a comment to a past post, the people of Jericho will be hosting a live chat at the official site on Tuesday, February 20th.

It will be hosted by Entertainment Weekly’s Lynette Rice, and there will be guest speaker appearances by Jericho’s producer/writer/actor Carol Barbee and actor Skeet Ulrich. Don’t miss out! Be sure to go on at 10am pt/1pm et.

While the quote above is pulled from the comment that was left, on the main site the times listed are 11am pt/2pm et for Tuesday, February 20th, 10am pt/1pm et on February 22nd and 10am pt/1pm et on March 1st. You can call in with questions or comments to the cast and to producers at that time, and I do hope that everyone that reads this here lets me know via comments what questions you have asked and how they all answered them.

New Sneak Peek - Deadly Chase

Monday, February 12th, 2007
cast.jpg

Prepping you for the recap episode on Wednesday, there’s a new sneak peek up at the official Jericho site that’s entitled “Deadly Chase“, from the third episode of the spring season, Heart of Winter.

While the sneak peek is interesting, out of all of the sneak peeks, this one leaves you hanging the most with the lack of lead-up in it. In the sneak peek, you see Jake (Skeet Ulrich), Mimi (Coppola) and Stanley (Brad Beyer) driving frantically away from a decidedly unfriendly looking black truck, which proceeds to try to run them off the road. Mimi asks at one point how far it is to Jericho, but that’s the only real background that you get from the clip.

They’re really making it hard to patiently wait for the spring season premiere.

Watch the whole clip here.

Ashley Scott Makes BuddyTV’s Hotlist

Friday, February 2nd, 2007
ashley_scott.jpg

While most things that I find about the actors on Jericho are either about Skeet Ulrich (who plays Jake Green) or Lennie James (who plays Robert Hawkins), and while I love those guys, it is nice to see the girls getting some attention.

BuddyTV.com spotlights different actors from the television series that it covers, and Ashley Scott, who plays Emily Sullivan, has made their “Hot List this time, along with Skeet Ulrich.

The article details her growing up in Metairie, Louisiana and her modeling career before moving into acting. Some of the tidbits that they have there is:

Previously, she entered a Millie Lewis Talent Competition where she won despite forgetting her lines. Shortly, she joined the Elite Miami and became an active catalogue model as well as a Giorgio Red spokesmodel. In addition, she also modeled internationally, graced the catwalk of Miami, Paris and London, and appeared in numerous magazines.

The first place that I remember seeing her was on the wonderful but short-lived Birds of Prey, though it did take me a little while to recognize her on Jericho with her (naturally?) blond hair.
